Little Domesday

February, 2007

Our brief for this project was to create a "noisy book". After looking at several historical books that could be considered "noisy" I decided to focus on the Domesday Book. When I first heard of the Domesday Book I expected something action-packed. Instead, it was an incredibly detailed survey of medieval England after the Norman Conquests. I decided to take the information found in the book and represent it in a way that justified its title. I found out how many sheep, pigs, and cows were in the book then created a minute long sound. The result is the sound of 130,000 sheep, 30,000 pigs, and 15,000 cows.
I packaged it in over 10,000 black sheep.
